Carin Forman

Digital Transformation Executive

Digital Asset Management Leader

Carin has more than twenty five years’ experience in digital asset management, information technology, broadcast, media, entertainment, international and marketing using DAM technology and workflows. Having started her career at CNN in London, she moved back to the United States to join Discovery Communications in 1990. There she held many diversified roles from International sales and marketing, to copywriting, product design and international print campaigns for terrestrial broadcasters. Carin worked with the cinematographers and photographers in selecting the needed imagery, graphics and logos for marketing campaigns and recognized a void that no content was not indexed, digitized or readily available for access. In 1996, she wrote a business plan to start a Digital Asset Management department and footage archive called Discovery Images. That initiative served over 800 global users and started Carin off on her DAM journey for both centralizing, uploading, meta-tagging and indexing owned content.

Carin joined Home Box Office (HBO) as the Director of Digital Media in HBO’s IT Application Development department in 2009 where she had technical responsibility for the Digital Asset Management system that housed all marketing assets. Having supported her business clients in Creative Services & Marketing, Carin moved into the business joining the Marketing Operations team in 2011, where she held the position of Director, Digital Photo Services and Platform Distribution till January 2021. In that role Carin oversaw the full image lifecycle for HBO, Cinemax and the newly launched HBO Max Original Photography from production to distribution and was responsible for producing and distributing imagery on digital and streaming platforms. In that role Carin converted over 400 Lacie Hard drives and built a collaboration DAM for Marketing Operations, creating web services, API’s to other DAM and systems of record around HBO and Warner Media. These newly designed creative workflows allowed for internal and external collaboration among production, creatives, talents, agencies and staff, levering digital asset management processes and workflows while supporting a full end-to-end digital lifecycle from ingest to streaming for content to go through a media supply chain using DAM technology and solutions. Currently, content from these systems goes to HBO Max, social; Facebook, Instagram, .com, LinkedIn as well as to partners on Apple, Amazon, Hulu, Verizon, Comcast and digital partners.

In her free time Carin enjoys spending time with family and friends. She enjoys skiing, tennis, travel (post pandemic) and laughter.

Before attending a HS DAM event, I never knew the true impact or importance of DAM. For the first time it felt like I wasn't alone, but part of something so much greater. I left inspired and motivated to take what I had learned and apply it our DAM system. I look forward to the event every year!

The Henry Stewart DAM NY conference did not disappoint. The breadth of topics and experiences covered were amazing.  I could have used three of me to cover all the sessions I was interested in attending!
