Design Operations New York 2023

Design Operations began solidifying as a discipline and ‘community of practice’ around 2015. It was then that the first articles by Dave Malouf, AirBnB and others were published. Their focus was the specific role that Design Operations has within the broader context of Digital Product Design (DPD). References to ‘DesOps’ and ‘DesignOps’ became increasingly frequent.

But eight years later where are we?

So much has happened within the practice but also, equally important, around the practice.

It is time for us to sit back and evaluate where we are and where we are not. We must think deeply about what we need to do to meet the challenges - both of today and tomorrow.  

In this session, Dave Malouf, veteran digital design leader and co-author of the DesignOps Handbook, will explore the challenges facing DesignOps; presenting his own evaluations and questions for the wider DPD community.
