The Art and Practice of Managing Digital Media

Tamara Thornhill

Corporate Archivist

Transport for London (TfL)

During her time at TfL, Tamara has overseen the development of a digital archive, a digital cataloguing strategy, and the implementation of a digital preservation repository. The digital collection has grown from nothing in October 2012 to over 27TB of assets and the archives’ team spend much time advocating for a greater awareness of digital obsolescence across the business and educating on how this can be averted.

Tamara qualified as an Archivist and Records Manager in 2006 and is a firm believer in providing access to information. She is also an advocate for breaking down the barriers between the IT community and the archives profession and has spoken at many separate events aimed at computer scientists, data analysts, or archivists to help demonstrate the skill set that archivists have, and demystify the technological world that they now have to embrace.

What others say

HS DAM events are really the one place to go for getting profound insights in status quo and trends in DAM industry. Very enlightening and inspiring!

Great event - Provided the opportunity to learn from customer journeys from a variety of organisations from different market segments. We came away with lots of great questions for ourselves which will be useful during our implementation.

HS DAM events provide me with the opportunity to broaden my horizons and think beyond to an "Omnichannel" DAM world that connects all the dots; video, image, text and more.
