Colin Simpson

Co-Founder and Operations Director

Risk Warden

Colin joined the fire service in 1974 and developed an interest in fire safety legislation, with the Fire Precautions Act 1971. He pursued this, attending all the relevant training at Morton in the Marsh Fire Service Training College, and in 1987 he gained an interest also in computers and programming. He developed his skills, combined with his knowledge of fire safety legislation, and started to explore how the new technology could help risk owners.

Following retirement from the fire service in 2004, Colin joined a fire engineering company, developing methods of data gathering to assist assessors. After retiring again in 2012, he and a friend – also a professional programmer – formed Risk Warden, with a focus on the Responsible Person and their responsibilities under Article 11 of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. Risk Warden today is a cloud-based software platform that provides a digital framework to manage all your property risk and compliance: from compliance governance and data capture through to analysis and everything in between, all from a single source of truth.
