Michael is a well respected figure within the UK petrol forecourt & convenience market. Having joined the sector in 1997 as a licensee with Irish operator Petrogas Group he operated a number of sites within the greater Dublin area. Shortly after this he joined the management team of PGL as Operations Manager before being appointed to Operations Director and joining the board of Applegreen. In 2008 he relocated with his family to the UK as Managing Director, during this period he built a reputation as an industry leader and forward thinking operator. Before exiting the business in December 2016 he had overseen the network grow to 85 UK service stations. Michael was an early pioneer for the inclusion of hot beverages & food service within UK service stations, he also servered on the Independents board of the ”Association of Convenience stores’ and in 2014 was voted ‘Retail Champion” by the readers of Forecourt Trader. With a keen eye for customer trends he then joined MFG as “Managing Director, acquisitions & business development”. During this period he made several contributions such as creating a development program, introduction of food brands, own label and reshaping the retail proposition. During his career Michael has regularly presented at a wide variety of high profile industry events both at home and abroad, he has also chaired industry events such as Retail Best, ACS Forecourt Seminar and OpenRooms Refuel Uk and regularly makes contibutions to a number of publications.  

Since leaving MFG Michael he has worked with SimplyFresh as COO of their Sainsburys partnership and provides Non-Exec support to a number of companies such as Eurotank Services Group and Healthy food company Freshly Chopped UK. He is also a resident forecourt consultancy for a number of financial and retail companies both in the UK & overseas.
