Student engagement and academic integrity are two critical challenges to the success of online education. Typically, educators consider these topics independently, as they wrestle with the nuances of course delivery. This presentation offers a fresh approach to mitigate the impact of both difficulties, offering practical strategies to overcome both challenges, in a simple yet engaging way.
The insights to be shared are experiential, in that they recount tried and proven methodologies that have been used repeatedly, in both online and classroom delivery formats, over two decades of university teaching. The techniques to be presented can be applied to a wide variety of subject matters and are appropriate for most educational levels. The simplicity and effectiveness of these strategies offer hope for a future of education that allows creativity and initiative to deliver better course design and development, and to enable legitimate learning to expand and flourish.
