Success and Challenges of Building a Fully Online Campus from the Ground Up

The online campus of Tarrant County College will be celebrating its 10th year of operation in 2024. Conceptualized as a fully online campus, it is the only virtual campus in Texas built from the ground up. Serving 30,000 non-traditional students to date, it was recognized in 2020 as the Top Online College in the United States. The TCC Connect Campus operates through planning, forecasting, and data-informed initiatives.

This presentation will discuss the challenges experienced in establishing, operating, and growing a fully online campus through practical examples and advice. The presenter will cover financial resources, the strategies to implement faculty professional development, innovative procedures and policies, infrastructure, student access, politics, data points, and rising enrollments while maintaining quality.
