Professor Daneel van Lill

Executive Dean: College of Business and Economics

University of Johannesburg

Professor Daneel van Lill serves as the University of Johannesburg (UJ) Executive Dean: College of Business and Economics (CBE). Daneel is a teacher and researcher at heart and values learning, quality relationships and making sense of the future serving as his coordinates over the past decade as Dean.

In responding to disruptive change, the College is purposed at developing critical thinkers and problem-solvers who address business, economic and societal challenges. The broader frame of reference is the UJ ambition to be an international university of choice, anchored in Africa, dynamically shaping the future.

The CBE strives and thrives through the contributions of six academic and applied strengths: the School of Accounting, the School of Consumer Intelligence and Information Systems, the School of Economics, the School of Management, the School of Public Management, Governance and Public Policy and the School of Tourism and Hospitality, backed by an agile academic governance force directed by the Deanery. The CBE takes care of some 25,000 students, including 15,000 undergraduates, 3,300 postgraduate and 7,000 students enrolled in Continuous Education, from across the African continent. The CBE is rated among the top five providers of education in economics and business in its respective disciplines.
