Scot is a marketing and branding consultant whose clients have ranged from global blue-chip brands to not-for-profits. He advises brands on marketing, branding, communications and positioning strategies, including the use of non-traditional approaches to growth, audience development, promotion and crisis management. His expertise includes real-time, digital, social and experiential marketing as well as strategic communications, crisis management, executive development and guidance.
Safon has served as Chief Marketing Officer or Head of Marketing for a number of major media brands across a 35-year career, where he has won numerous industry awards, including an Emmy Award and the Atlanta AMA’s 2014 Marketer of the Year award. He has served as the Chief Marketing Officer of CNN Worldwide, The Weather Channel, TNT, UP and Discovery’s MotorTrend Group. He also was the EVP/General Manager of CNN’s HLN network.
Currently, Safon is a consulting associate working with Civic Entertainment and Cultique. He advises on the Ford, WarnerMedia and Showtime accounts. He has also consulted for ICP, VICE, Scripps Networks, Facebook and FairHealth. He received his BA from the University of Virginia and his MBA from Cornell University.
