DAM Fest Europe

A celebration of all things DAM

And the Award goes to... DAM and the Secure Sharing of Pre-Release Films

3 November, 11:45 AM
In 2017, BAFTA began looking seriously for an alternative to the DVD send-out for entrants to the BAFTA Film Awards. How could we take it digital?   It's a DAM problem of epic proportions when you consider the security issues around sharing pre-release films worth multiple millions of dollars.   As a charity, BAFTA’s aims were to:
  • Be extremely mindful of the project budget
  • Build a system that delivers for all entrants (from small filmmakers to large studios) a level playing field when putting their films in front of BAFTA members for judging
  • Maintain absolute security for large studios when handling their valuable assets
  • Ensure ease of use for BAFTA members used to getting DVDs
BAFTA’s conversations with many other academies around the world has established that our solution is unique. The secret was to use APIs and create a series of interconnected DAMs.
