DAM Europe 2020

The Art and Practice of Managing Digital Media

Tamara Thornhill

Corporate Archivist

Transport for London

Tamara Thornhill is an information professional who works at Transport for London, managing a digital collection of 20TB of data – and growing! Tamara believes that data is the most undervalued asset an organisation has and that managing and preserving it effectively can transform what it is possible for a company to achieve.

Tamara has worked at Transport for London for 10 years. In this time she has lead projects and provided leadership to bring stability and success to poorly performing departments and growth to services, implemented processes that add value and eliminate waste, and overseen the implementation of various capital investment projects to improve service delivery.

Tamara is a qualified Archivist and Records Manager and is a Prince 2 practicioner. She has spoken at national conferences, run webinars, and been interviewed about her work in the field of digital preservation. Tamara holds a BA in Ancient and Medieval History and an MA in Medieval Studies from Royal Holloway University of London, and an MA in Archives and Records Management from University College London.
