Keynote: Preserving the History of Local and Global Hip Hop Culture – Rich Digital Assets of Past, Present and Future

February 2, 11:10 AM EST

The Universal Hip Hop Museum UHHM is a unique collection of assets brought together to shape what is Hip Hop History. We’ll hear from Martha Diaz, Chair of Archives, Curatorial and Educational Affairs about the challenges of developing from ‘a start-up from scratch’ to, what has become, an ‘iconic world’s first museum of its kind’ in the Bronx.

In this session, we’ll learn more about the archives, collections and everything associated with preserving cultural history within the UHHM as well as the practical challenges of defining many of the metadata categories. We’ll hear the strategic direction of the UHHM and plans to leverage opportunities.
