Gwen curates the ethnographic collections and contemporary Native American art collection at the New York State Museum (NYSM). 

In 2020, she became chair of the Enrich Cultural Institution Working Group (CIWG), a global collective of museum professionals dedicated to the work of decolonizing attribution, and primarily utilizing tools and platforms developed by Local Contexts.

Prior to NYSM, Gwen taught anthropology and museum studies at Northern Arizona University, earned her doctorate at the University of New Mexico and worked with the ethnographic collections at the Maxwell Museum of Anthropology.
