DAM in Cultural Heritage and GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums): Carving a Path Forward
The GLAM sector relies on DAM systems for a myriad of internal workflows and wide public engagement. Ready access to high fidelity digital assets is mission critical. Yet, due to funding constraints and because of differing technology capabilities and strategies, many GLAMs are struggling with systems that are inadequate or out-dated. This presents both challenges and opportunities.
In this panel discussion the speakers will share their respective organizations’ status with DAM and processes, along with larger goals of what comes next, exploring points such as:
- What is the history of DAM in your organization, how did we get here?
- What has changed over the past decade (or more) in terms of needs and capabilities?
- What are the challenges we face in our attempts to upgrade or replace DAM systems?
- What strategies have we used to overcome those challenges, or even turn them into opportunities?
Attendees will glean practical, real-world information and vital insights about the important role of DAM and staff across GLAMs. In addition, we will encourage active participation from session attendees, as we all benefit when we learn from one another.
