Let’s Talk About DAM and Preservation
The history of motion picture preservation is around 100 years old and, over time, archival and technical practices have evolved and many great films have been preserved and continue to be enjoyed by new generations.
In this session, we’ll hear from Andrea Kalas, SVP, Asset Management at Paramount Pictures on the expanding and developing role of the archivist and technologist who have become experts in the history of motion picture technology. Andrea will explain the importance of using this expertise to ensure new content is future proofed.
Technological advances mean that DAM can provide your organization with a rich resource for re-use, brand management and cultural engagement but ‘preservation’ is still not in the mix of key functionalities most of the time. Andrea will share why preservation is critical to weave into your organization, and how to move picture and audio from one technology to the next.
