DAM Industry Week

Steve Sponsel is the Director of Service Development in the Multimedia Delivery Platforms Division, an in-house creative and media production group supporting video, printing, intranet services and live events. Steve has a background in graphic design, systems analysis, EHR design and healthcare administration. In various roles in the Division, Steve has provided vision and leadership for Mayo Clinic’s transition to digital printing, electronic publishing, and patient-facing streaming video services in addition to implementing Mayo’s first-generation digital asset management system in the early 2000’s. He is currently leading a project to refresh the Mayo Clinic DAM platform to support new digital products and services, and to provide support for a sharp increase in demand for video in the surgical setting used for patient care, education, and research. Steve is the secretary of Mayo’s Health Information Subcommittee, which provides oversight for patient health information policies, including clinical digital imaging. He also served for many years on Mayo’s Brand Team, providing administrative leadership for Mayo’s first formal visual identity system.

He holds an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts and a graduate degree in Health Information Management. When he is not working on media projects, he can usually be found outside on a bike or skis.
