DAM and Museums 2024

A Digital Transformation Journey: Implementing a New Digital Collection Ecosystem Across Oxford University Museums

February 8, 11:10 AM EST

Aruna Bhaugeerutty, Head of Digital Collections at the Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology, takes us on a journey transforming the digital collections infrastructure at the oldest public museum in the UK.

Join Aruna as she discusses the recent project to implement new systems for collections management, digital asset management, and publishing collections online as part of Oxford University's GLAM Digital Strategy Implementation Programme.

This key initiative, which aimed to improve digital access to the collections for research discovery and public engagement, has eventually expanded to involve all the University’s museums. Aruna will talk about this adventure, the challenges, the ongoing transition from a project to a service, and her hopes for the future.

What others say

HS DAM events provide me with a welcome opportunity to learn from colleagues, make new connections, and reflect on what I can do to improve my institution's DAM environment.

Gwendolyn Saul

HS DAM events provided a very affordable (free) and easy way to learn more about DAMs and connect with peers in the field.

Pat Seymour
The Andy Warhol Museum

This event was informative and engaging. It covered technical aspects of DAM in an accessible manner. The Q&A sections were well moderated, and I am very pleased I made time for attending.
