Words Really Do Matter: How to Manage Metadata and Why This is Important

February 9, 1:40 PM EST

Metadata underpins everything and matters because it gives meaning to the data. It’s vital that your metadata stays relevant.

Metadata is a strategic imperative to manage effectively an organization’s knowledge. The successful implementation of a content related strategy, whether that is a DAM or CMS, requires the implementation of a holistic metadata schema, thoroughly supported by technology, by people and by detailed and watertight processes.

In this session, moderated by David Lipsey, the panel will provide an overview of the importance of metadata and the power of language. The panel will explore how the museum sector manage metadata and design metadata models to fit their organizational needs. Join Phil Seibel, Senior Librarian, Aldis, Jaime McCurry, eDAMS Coordinator, National Gallery of Art, Washington, DEI Metadata Consultant Sharon Mizota and John Florance, DAM Practice Manager, Risetime Technologies for a lively discussion.
