Nickelodeon Digital Studios’ Innovation Journey

May 16, 9:10 AM EDT

Embracing & Adapting to Change

Stefan Stankevich and Garrett Beltis describe Nickelodeon Digital Studios’ journey over the past five years. A journey that illustrates the power of adaption and innovation in the face of unprecedented challenges.

Merging the West Coast and East Coast teams and the creative response to the pandemic transformed the studio. Nickelodeon Digital Studios was forced to re-evaluate traditional content production - shifting focus to at-home editing and reimagined storytelling.  They worked on Garrett Beltis’ ingenious creation, Pineapple Playhouse, a puppet re-enactment of beloved SpongeBob episodes, produced entirely within a Queens apartment.

Amid global challenges, they embraced new technologies, navigating the AI landscape to enhance workflow.  A collaboration with an internal Paramount team led to the development of a groundbreaking tool, saving hours in pre-production and making possible the rapid creation of engaging, granular compilations for Nickelodeon’s YouTube channels.

A story of resilience, innovation, and continuous evolution.
