Colin Blair has been with the University of Huddersfield for over 26 years and has been instrumental in managing the transformation of its academic estate into one of the best examples in the HE sector. As part of a dynamic and entrepreneurial senior management team he oversaw the disposal of the entirety of the University’s residential portfolio to the private sector and the consolidation of its academic activity onto a single campus at Queensgate.
Prior to joining the University, Colin worked as a Building Services Design Engineer within contracting organisations. Colin is a Chartered Engineer, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers, gained an MSc (Distinction) in Facilities Management and was named a BIFM Graduate of the Year in 2000.
Colin stood down as Treasurer of the Association of Directors of Estates (AUDE) having completed eight years on the National Executive Committee of the Organisation and was the winner of the inaugural AUDE Long Term Contribution Award in 2015. Colin chairs AUDE Learning and Development Group and also serves as a Governor of Wakefield Grammar School Foundation.
Colin is committed to ensuring that the facilities offered by the University of Huddersfield to students, staff and visitors are first class, that Huddersfield maintain their strong financial position within the Top Ten of mainstream University’s within the UK and have an academic estate that is rated within the top 10%.
Colin was recognised for his services to Higher Education and the Community of Huddersfield with the award of an MBE in the Queens 2016 New Year’s Honours List.
