Rights Tutorial: Use, Reuse and Monetize the Assets in your DAM

Wednesday November 16, 1.30 pm - 4.30 pm

Every company wants to use, reuse and distribute the assets it stores in its DAM or MAM.  These assets may be marketing material, photographs, videos, blog posts, logos, brands, designs, or software.  Many companies have invested in DAMS, they have ordered their assets, and can find them at the click of a button.  But does the company have the right under a contract, copyright or trademark law to use the assets?

Ed Klaris, Principal of KlarisIP, will lead a tutorial on how rights play a role in the use, reuse, and monetization of intellectual property assets.  Ed is a professor of law at Columbia Law School, was counsel at Conde Nast, The New Yorker, and ABC, and has extensive experience helping companies understand, strategize and implement rights into their work stream.  Participants will learn what rights matter, how to capture them, how rights play a crucial role in monetization, strategies for rights-in and rights-out deals, and how DAM professionals can work across the enterprise on rights projects.
